10 THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN TECH IN APRIL



The month of April has a lot of significance when it comes to history, music, crime and a lot more. You probably didn't know that according to the ancient Greek, the new year would start from April.


But a lot did happen in the tech world in April. So here are 10 things which happened in technology in April that changed the tech world.


1. (April 1,1976) - Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne co-founded  Apple Computers. The first Apple Computers which was designed and hand-built by Steve Wozniak was launched on April 11, 1976. The company was established as Apple Computers.Inc on January 3,1977. Now after 44 years, Apple currently one the most valuable company in the world.

2.(April 1,2004) - Google launches Gmail as an invitation-only beta. The launch created doubt world wide due to Google's long-standing tradition of April Fool's prank. The email service launched by Google has more than 1.5 billion since 2019 and the number is rising per day.

3.(April 3,1975) -The first American theatre devoted solely for movie opens in Los Angeles. Admission of 200-seat 'Electric Theatre' was a dime

4.(April 4, 1973) - The first mobile phone call was made by Martin Cooper using the early model of Motorola Dynatac phone, the phone which weighed 1.13kg, measuring about 22.2cm long and  12.7cm deep. Today there are approximately 5.19 billion mobile phone users in the world.

5.(April 4, 1975) - Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft in Albuquerque. Microsoft is the first software company to provide software for computers. Currently, Microsoft is one of the most valuable companies with a value of over 1 trillion market capitalization.

6.(April 7, 1927) - AT&T demonstrates Television for the first time, as the live picture and voice of Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover are transmitted over telephone lines from Washington D.C., to New York. Today Televisions are one of the highly sought out product in the world.

7.(April 14,1984) - The first commercial exhibition of motion held in New York City, using ten Kinetoscopes.

8.(April 17,1977) - At Western Coast Computer Faire, Apple Computer formally introduces their first personal computer, Apple II shortly after their company's first anniversary. Apple II remains their most sold personal computers for a few years.

9.(April 29, 1980)- Apple launched the iTunes Music Store. The store sold more than 1 million tracks in its first five days. According to New industry report, the value of music streaming services is over $19.1 billion.

10.(30 April 1993)- Tim Berners-Lee has invented World Wide Web (www) which will be on the public domain. This made the World Wide Web an open and free platform, letting millions of applications bloom.
